Deadly Crisis in Haiti

The aftermath of Hurricane Matthew has placed the victims in Haiti in an even more problematic state. Fighting the ruins that were brought upon, by the catastrophic event, they must now battle the dangerous rise of Cholera due to the contamination in their water. Cholera was unknown in Haiti until the fall of 2010. Since then, cholera has killed roughly 10,000 people and sickened more than 800,000 in the country.
Our aim is to better assist in the attempts to help the victims, through a key element, important to their survival that is at the moment causing them more harm than good- water. Paul Brockmann, director of the Doctor Without Border's mission in Haiti, said the looming wet |

Interest starting from a project for our Biomedical Engineering class, our group was challenged to improve a technology that could help front line medical respondents in their attempt to assist those affected by a disaster. Keeping up with current events, HCP decided to focus on helping out with the situation occurring in Haiti, Hurricane Matthew.
